Selfie 330, Mural for El Hefe restaurant , Girard, Ohio, USA

This was one of the murals commissioned by a Mexican who crossed the Rio Grande 2 times to get a better future on the USA.

He started out as a cook and today it has not only restaurants… also a vast cultural richness! And a huge taste for the songs of @patomachete the same ones that he wore in his headphones when raffling all the obstacles to reach your destination.

Thank you very much Jorge Carreño keep breaking it.

The commission was to make Mexican murals for the new Mexican cuisine restaurant, client wanted me to keep from not falling into the excessively traditional kitschy folklore, and in the interview with them I understood that the owners really liked butterflies and alebrijes (Alebrijes are surreal creatures from an oneiric world that were “brought to life” by Pedro Linares Lopez (906-1992), a paper Maché artist from Mexico City) since they are very common in the states where they were born before leaving for the United States, therefore I managed to merge these concepts into my monumental collage style giving a fresh, colorful and joyful sense of what Mexican culture is
like and it was probably my favorite mural of the year!
(Actually it was, but I don’t want my other murals to feel sad hahaha )
